Exploring Faith in Tension

We are all on a journey, trying our best to satisfy the deepest desire within us. Life is complicated though and to know the truth of what our hearts truly crave, we must explore. In that exploration for the truth, we must wrestle with pieces of the truth that at first glance are contradictory. This is the tension, the fray that we all live on as we seek to follow Jesus in this world but not of it.

Why the phrase

‘Into The Fray’

Hip-Hop Artist, Poet and Author ‘Propaganda’ on his album ‘Crooked’ in the song ‘Made Straight’ has this chilling opening to his song:

“So self suffienciey dies hard, right?

But when rightfully humbled, God shows up in burning bushes

May we step into the fray like “I got something to say”

May we hold no armies, no weapons, no ceremonial authority

Just a walking stick of an old timer and not an ounce of fear

May we have a faith birthed out of a revelation of promise

A reflex caused by what you know to be true of God

Life is not a comic book

There are no perfect victims or villains, just us”

‘Into The Fray

was birthed out of a desire to step into a broken world, that is not always easy to read. Like Propaganda says “there are no perfect victims or villains, just us”.

This could very easily strike fear in the one traveling with God, making them scared of every corner they turn. What if the spiritual boogey man gets them? what if he rips you out of the Father’s arms?

Into the fray is a challenge to live life, not in fear, but in the confidence that you know who’s got you. So step out
